Ingrid Castro
I am a Latinx artist from Los Angeles.
I received my art education from
Loyola Marymount Univeristy with a
B.A degree in Animation and Fine Arts
in 2004.
Most of my artwork is inspired by Latin
traditions and American pop-culture.
My blended cultural experience as a
Salvadoran-American raised in a
metropolitan city, Los Angeles and a
remote suburban city, Palmdale, California has provided an array of topics to examine visually. Dia de los Muertos has been one of several themes I have explored in my artwork. I also enjoy doing self-portraits for my patrons as commissioned artwork.
I have worked on a variety of freelance projects such as illustrations, graphic designs for retail organization events, school site murals and private painting commissions. I have also participated in juried competitions such as Hollywood Forever Cemetary’s Dia De Los Muertos, Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival and was a winner of The Orangeline Development Authority (OLDA) Logo Contest.
My other passion is education. I currently teach 6th and 7th grade and will include teacher themed items in my art and shop.
